Santa Clause Gives a Welsh Language Shopping List to 'Orange' shop in Aberystwyth

Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg can reveal that Santa Clause will visit the 'Orange' franchise mobile phone shop on Terrace Road, Aberystwyth this Saturday the 13th of December. Santa will pull from his sack a list of the services he would like to see 'Orange' provide in Welsh. Santa will then hand over the list to the workers at the shop asking them to forward it to 'Orange' head office, he will also ask the shop to support Cymdeithas' campaign by sending a letter to 'Orange' asking them to provide a bilingual service to their customers.

Santa Clause will join The Welsh Language Society's ongoing campaign
to transform the private sector to work positively to normalize the
Welsh language. Cymdeithas have been targeting 2 private companies
every 2 months throughout the past year and are focusing on Orange and
Vodafone for November and December. Following appalling responses from
these companies, Cymdeithas will be led by Santa Clause to introduce
these demands to the shops in Aberystwyth on December 13th at 1pm and
will then go on to the Vodafone and Orange shops in Carmarthen on
December 20th at 11am, before flying up on his sleigh to Caernarfon in
the afternoon and then on to Bangor the following week.

Santa Clause said:

"People from all around Wales have asked for mobile phones aspresents
this year again. If the Welsh language is to be a normal part of our
lives, these companies must provide fair rights to their customers and
treat Welsh as an official language."

As Cymdeithas awaits the announcement of the LCO, the legislative
order which will transfer powers over the language from London to
Cardiff, Angharad Clwyd, Dyfed Organiser for Cymdeithas yr Iaith, said:

"We don't expect anyting less than all the powers over the language
transferred to Cardiff Bay. This is the only moral option.

With these powers, we expect the One Wales Governement to lead from
the top and include phone companies in the new Welsh language measure."

Santa Clause has arranged to meet his helpers outside Siop y Pethe at
1pm on Saturday before walking over to the shop on Terrace Road.
