Every good wish to the efforts of those parents and communities whose schools face closure under this draft plan.
This authority's answer to regeneration, is to sell off its own public assets and land in the name of "progress".Sometimes all that is needed is a hammer and chisel rather than a bulldozer.
Campaigning in this county is also somewhat akin to shooting small darts at a wall of steel, people are using their voice only to be ignored or turned a deaf ear to.(But bear in mind the accuracy of David in his tussle with Goliath!)
The authority has cited leaky roofs and lack of indoor toilets in its justification of this plan-----so where has it been in latter years to put things right?
Communities and people matter, and our schools are the focal point.Leave well alone!

I'm very agaisnt this, i'm not a mother but i do feel for them! To me the school brings the village people together, its were the mother & fathers get 2 know each other. Who will provied the transport for the young people to get the schools as some people hav to use buses and other people have to go to work! If this is for young people to get to know other places and other young people than its a waste of time as when the young people go to secondery school they have adventure meting new people as i remember my first day! What do they think that they can achive out of this.

Tied-up with this campaign is the coincidence that the County is looking for a new Director of Education. It is now very clear from press reports that this Council really does not consider that the ability to speak Welsh is of any prime consideration whatsoever. It is a shocking thought that the educational traditions of this county and its communities is to be dictated by a stranger earning £100,000 pa.The spin surrounding its promotion of policies which are said to be so good for us all is now so thick as to remind one of the cobwebby dungeons of a medieval castle------thick,irritating, sinister and dark!

The parents and communities of Sir Gar, who may be affected by the closure of their local primary schools, will never rest easy as long as County policies remain so reactionary. Falling school rolls are indicative of the failure of our young people to be able to afford to stay in the areas in which they were born and bred, and to raise families.Sustainable communities require positive and practical policies for low cost housing, primarily, and well- paid jobs, to stay here.If market forces continue to dictate our way of life, then hope diminishes daily. Sir Gar lies at the heart of Welsh-speaking Wales, but instead of leading the way to a better future, this present administration follows the national trend without vision or imagination, intent on turning the county into an unrecognisable parody of a true sustainable way of life.Platitudes abound.
The European Agenda 21 recognises the need for the establishment of sustainable communities, but the concept does not extend to our primary schools it seems. I am now ashamed to say I still live here, and the County Education authority, and the Assembly has a long way to go to justify themselves in these vitally important matters.
